A fiery collision between two cars in East Texas killed eight people, including three young children and their mother. Randomly, the vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the Chrysler 300 that carried the mother and her children, heading westbound.
The Malibu had been rented in Tulsa, Oklahoma by two men, who died along with the other two passengers in their car. A passerby came upon the burning wreck, which happened about 15 miles northeast of Dallas. Authorities are uncertain when, exactly, the car accident occurred.

Pennsylvania Woman Awarded $2 Million Delayed Diagnosis Verdict
Thursday, December 22nd, 2011
Lawrence County’s Court of Common Pleas awarded a $2 million medical malpractice verdict to a Pennsylvania woman who suffered from a delayed cancer diagnosis. After a six-day trial, it only took the jury two and a half hours to decide on the verdict.
It was proven that in May 2008, after experiencing excessive bleeding, the woman went to see a local specialist, who diagnosed her with hemorrhoids. The doctor then recommended that she be treated with an IRC machine, without ordering further testing. She continued to see the patient four more times over the course of sixteen months, but the patient experienced no relief of her symptoms. Each time, the doctor diagnosed her with hemorrhoids and failed to order further testing.
Finally, over a year later, the patient self-referred herself to another specialist who discovered that she was suffering form Stage III rectal cancer. A grueling course of chemotherapy and radiation followed, including surgery.
If you or a loved has suffered because of a delayed caner diagnosis, or any other type of misdiagnosis, you may be entitled to compensation. Please contact the experienced Philadelphia medical malpractice attorneys at Wapner, Newman, Wigrizer, Brecher & Miller today for a free case evaluation.

UPS Truck Accident Injures Two People
Thursday, December 15th, 2011
This past Saturday, a UPS delivery truck veered off an embankment and slammed into a tree on the side of a road in Federal Way, Washington. According to police, a UPS worker who was riding in the truck was ejected when the vehicle flew off the road. He was pinned between the tree and the truck for over half an hour before he was finally rescued.
The UPS truck’s driver was able to escape the wreck with minor injuries, but he was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. The passenger was transported to the same hospital, but with life-threatening injuries from the truck accident.
According to a witness, the driver seemed disoriented and was concerned about the truck’s cargo, seemingly unaware that his co-worker had been thrown from the truck. At the moment, the cause of the accident is still being investigated, but Federal Way authorities do not believe that the driver was impaired.

NHL Star Sidney Crosby Suffers Brain Injury Relapse
Wednesday, December 14th, 2011
Pittsburgh Penguin’s star player, 24-year-old Sidney Crosby, was out of commission for 10 full months after suffering a major concussion in January 2010. After recently returning to the ice and playing eight full games, he has been suffering a relapse of the brain injury symptoms that had plagued him earlier in the year.
Despite undergoing tests that confirmed his improvement, Crosby was worried by the extra exertion he felt when skating the following day. “I just didn’t feel right,” he says. As a precaution, Crosby has now temporarily left Pittsburgh’s lineup. Crosby is frustrated to be on the sidelines again, but he claims he wants to make sure that he is “back to 100%” before he decides to return for good. He doesn’t want to take any chances with the future of his career.
Concussions, like all brain injuries, are notorious for exhibiting symptoms months or even years after the accident occurred. Brain injuries are complex and require attentive, careful medical care to ensure the patient’s safety both now and into the future.
If you have suffered a brain injury because of someone else’s negligence or wrongdoing, you may be entitled to compensation. Please contact the experienced Pennsylvania brain injury lawyers at Atlee Hall & Brookhart, LLP today for a free initial consultation.

Mother with Brain Damage Receives $900,000 Med Mal Award
Friday, December 9th, 2011
After nearly dying during her C-section childbirth at Maryview Hospital in Virginia, Latarsha Creekmore filed a medical malpractice case against the hospital, claiming that they failed to check her surgical incisions for over six hours. When she was finally lifted out of her bed and taken to surgery, her bedsheets were soaked with blood.
According to the lawsuit, Creekmore had a history of pregnancy-induced high blood pressure. Nurses were ordered to monitor her blood pressure closely after the delivery, but they did not. Over the course of several hours, the mother’s heart rate and blood pressure became erratic. She finally went into shock when her blood pressure became dangerously low and an alarm sounded on her monitor. She is now left with brain damage as a result of the hospital’s negligence.
The doctor who performed Creekmore’s delivery has botched a similar delivery before, says the Virginia Board of Medicine. A series of medical malpractice cases have been filed against him since 2001. He surrendered his medical license after an investigation performed by the Virginia Board of Medicine.

Twelve Former NFL Players Sue League for Covering Up Concussion Risks
Tuesday, December 6th, 2011
A new group of former football pros is filing a lawsuit against the National Football League, claiming that the league as a whole has failed to take important and necessary steps in protecting players from long-term traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Overwhelming medical evidence points to the fact that on-field concussions lead directly to TBI, and careful medical follow-up should be performed to minimize the risks and consequences of these injuries.
Among other points, the players assert that they were given multiple injections of a powerful anti-inflammatory drug called Toradol, which only mask the symptoms of TBI and exacerbate the head injury. The lawsuit also accuses the League of failing to protect players from future concussions, which can be several times more detrimental than the initial brain injury.
According to the complaint, the NFL’s medical committee hid the true dangers of the concussion injuries, and the League reneged on its promise to create a global fund in order to provide compensation for the players’ injuries.
If you have suffered a traumatic brain injury because of another person’s negligence or recklessness, you may be entitled to compensation. Please contact an experienced personal injury lawyer in your area today using the Personal Injury Lawyer Directory.

California Utility Gets Fined $38 Million for Fatal Blast
Friday, December 2nd, 2011
On Thursday, California utility regulators assigned their largest safety fine ever – $38 million – against PG&E Corporation for a pipeline explosion in 2008 that killed a Rancho Cordova man. This hefty fine implies that the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will be even harsher on a much bigger accident that occurred in 2010, leveling a neighborhood in San Bruno, California and killing eight in the process.
After investigating the Rancho Cordova explosion, which also caused injury to five people, investigators found that the gas leak was caused by faulty PG&E repairs. A CPUC commissioner stated that the high fines are an attempt to emphasize the point that “safety must come before everything else” for utility companies.
Gas explosion accidents can be devastating. Those that survive are often left with serious, life-altering injuries. If a utility company’s negligence is found to have caused the accident, the victims can file a personal injury lawsuit to pursue compensation.
