Woman Dies After Long Battle With Medical Errors
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009
When a mother of four went to a plastic surgeon in 2002, she believed she would be getting a simple liposuction procedure she and her doctor had talked about. Unfortunately, the routine procedure was performed with severe negligence, and the woman left the operating room with multiple punctures to her lower intestine and colon. The medical malpractice injuries caused multiple organs in the woman’s body to fail, poisoned her blood, and gave her a heart attack. After the botched surgery, she filed a medical malpractice lawsuit to recover compensation, but never fully recovered from the injuries. She eventually suffered a wrongful death. This past May, the woman underwent reconstructive surgery to repair her abdomen, but the 16-hour procedure was a failure. Following the procedure, the woman was put in the intensive care unit at the hospital, and the family was forced to switch off her life support, ending her young life. As the number of cosmetic surgeries performed every year continues to grow, medical errors like this may become more common. Surgical mistakes are unacceptable, and the medical professionals who fail to provide you with the level of care you deserve need to be held accountable. Texas Boating Accident Could Have Been Caused By Manufacturing Defect
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
When the competitors on the Texas A&M; sailing team went to compete in a race to Veracruz, they never expected to deal with a serious boating accident and the wrongful death of a friend. The racing boat, named the Cynthia Woods, was 38-feet-long and lost its keel about 10 hours into the race. During the boating accident, one of the University’s employees pushed two other passengers out of the cabin, saving their lives; unfortunately, he ultimately drowned in the process. After the boat capsized, the remaining five crewmembers spent 26 hours at sea before being rescued by the coast guard. During an investigation performed by the school, officials determined that the boat accident was caused by a product defect in the hull. This report contradicts the findings of the coast guard, which stated the hull was damaged after repeated groundings. Currently, the company that built the Cynthia Woods is claiming that the reports made by the University’s investigation are invalid. Accidents such as this can be very hard for families to deal with alone. It is important to consult an experienced personal injury lawyer who can help guide you through the legal process so that you receive the compensation you deserve. If you have been injured in a boating accident in the Beaumont, Texas area, please contact the Texas boating accident lawyers at Bush Lewis, P.L.L.C. today to schedule a consultation.

Festival Accident Puts Four in Hospital
Monday, July 20th, 2009
An employee at a funnel-cake stand in Hanover, Virginia tipped over a vat of oil, spilling 350-400 degree oil all over himself and three other people working alongside him. Two of the employees suffered second-degree burn injuries over 30 percent of their bodies and had to be flown to a nearby hospital. Although officials are looking into the cause of the accident, employees and witnesses say that it was simply the result of a slip and fall accident. After the accident, the stand remained open at the fair. The employees who were severely burned from the accident should retain the help of a personal injury lawyer. The treatment for serious burns can be expensive, and a personal injury lawsuit can help them recover compensation for their medical bills and other injuries suffered. With a personal injury lawsuit, the injured employees can hold the negligent employee responsible for the oil spill. If it is determined that the owner of the funnel-cake stand is liable for the burns, then he may be held responsible for the injuries as well. If you have suffered a personal injury in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia area, please contact the Virginia personal injury lawyers at Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. today to schedule your initial consultation.

Computers Contribute to At-Home and Work Injuries
Friday, July 17th, 2009
According to a recent study from The American Journal of Preventative Medicine, an estimated 9,279 of emergency room visits were caused by computer-related personal injuries. This number is a serious increase from just 1,267 computer injuries in 1994. Children under the age of five suffer the most computer injuries. One of the reasons for this is that children at this age can grab onto things on desks and tables and pull them off. In the case of computer injuries, children can reach up and pull the monitor or CPU off the surface and onto them. Another common computer injury is carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive action injuries associated with typing. This is important for people who spend a lot of time at work on the computer. Lastly, serious computer users can suffer back injuries from poor posture while at the computer. Repetitive injuries such as the one people suffer after years of typing at work can be difficult to prove to employers, and sometimes employers will deny an employee’s request for workers’ compensation. If you have suffered a work-related injury, it is important to consult an experienced workers’ compensation lawyer to make sure that you receive the benefits you are entitled to by law. If you have a workers’ compensation claim in the West Palm Beach, Florida area, please contact the Florida personal injury office of Craig Goldenfarb, P.A. today to schedule your initial consultation.

Woman Files Toxic Exposure Lawsuit Against Navy Base
Thursday, July 16th, 2009
Camp Lejeune, which has been the home of millions of people over the years, is now being cited as the cause of what could be millions of toxic exposure injuries. One Iowa woman, who was too sick to file her lawsuit herself, had lawyers file a lawsuit against the United States government for the cancer she has suffered from. The woman lived on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina from 1980 until 1983 where she claims she drank tainted water. The toxic exposure lawsuit says that the water at that time contained a few different toxins that are known to cause cancer: benzene, tetrachloroethylene, and trichloroethylene. Health officials believe that there are thousands of families who have suffered from cancer and other immune diseases as a result of exposure to toxic materials on the naval base. Now that it has become known that the negligent actions of the U.S. government are the cause of these injuries, many people are filing toxic exposure lawsuits to help recover damages for their personal injury. The toxic exposure attorneys filing the lawsuit on behalf of the sick woman say that the government needs to be accountable for the injuries their negligent actions have caused over the years. The military is supposed to maintain a clean water supply, and the thousands of sick families are proof they have failed to do so. If you have suffered an injury from exposure to toxic chemicals in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, please contact experienced Charlotte personal injury lawyer Robert J. Dewey, P.A. today to schedule your initial consultation.

Commercial Truck Driver Hits Bridge
Wednesday, July 15th, 2009
On his way to deliver peat moss, a commercial truck driver collided into a bridge that was too short for his truck to fit under. The driver of the truck is claiming that the reason the semi-truck accident occurred is because he was following directions on his new GPS device. The truck driver claims that the GPS device he was using failed to warn him in time for him to stop the truck. Commercial GPS systems are supposed to warn drivers if the truck they are in is too big for bridges or overpasses along their route. The truck accident was so severe it peeled back the roof of the semi-truck trailer and bent the frame. Fortunately, neither the driver nor the passenger suffered a personal injury after the truck ran into the bridge; however, the trailer was totaled. As GPS devices become more and more popular, it is inevitable that they will be blamed for auto accidents and truck accidents such as this. The manufacturer of the GPS device had not been contacted at the time of the police report, so it is uncertain whether the GPS unit in question was defective. If you have been injured in a truck accident in the Baltimore, Maryland area, please contact the Baltimore truck accident attorneys at Cohen & Dwin, P.A. today to schedule your initial consultation.

Florida Woman Loses Limbs After Failure To Diagnose
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009
When a Florida woman went to the hospital on Sept. 20, 2003, she knew that she was suffering from a severe kidney stone episode. She had suffered from them in the past and told a nurse in the emergency room what was happening. What ensued was a tragic combination of failure to diagnose, medical error, and miscommunication between doctors, hospital staff, and other professionals. In the end, the woman lost her legs below the knees and her arms below the elbows. The woman sued for medical malpractice, and when the jury came back with their decision, the judge threw it out and called for another trial. The woman went to the hospital because she could barely walk and had a fever of 106. After telling an emergency room nurse she had a kidney stone, nothing was done to treat her problems. The woman suffered from terrible infections that prevented her limbs from receiving the blood they needed, killing the tissue. After losing her limbs, the woman has endured near-constant pain, intensive physical therapy, almost $1 million in medical bills, and difficulty working. The injured woman is seeking compensation for the injuries she suffered due to the negligence of the hospital staff. If you live in the Orlando, Florida area and have suffered an injury from a doctor’s failure to properly diagnose your condition, please contact the Orlando medical malpractice lawyers at The Law Offices of Michael Barszcz, M.D., J.D. today to schedule your initial consultation.

Washington Man Sues McDonald's for Tampered Burger
Thursday, July 9th, 2009
A 65-year-old man from Washington who has been a faithful McDonald’s patron for decades is now suing the restaurant chain for injuries he received after eating a portion of one of their hamburgers. The man’s injuries were so severe, he couldn’t eat for days after the incident. According to the personal injury lawsuit, the man went to a local McDonald’s to order some food. The first burger he received was cold and squashed. When the man requested a newer, fresher burger, a restaurant employee made a face at him and gave him another. The man could tell the employee was upset, and when he bit into the burger, he could feel a tingling, burning sensation. He threw away the rest of the burger. When the man awoke the next morning, the inside of his mouth was covered in chemical burns and blisters. After going to the hospital, the man returned to McDonald’s and spoke to another employee. The second employee said that the earlier employee put bleach and other chemicals on the man’s burger before serving it to him. When the man complained to the McDonald’s corporation, they expressed no remorse and offered no apology. A defective product can come in any number of different forms. In this case, the man was injured by a dangerous product when he attempted to consume a tainted burger. Since McDonald’s didn’t offer any apology or compensation, the man is going to try and recover compensation for his injuries through a product liability lawsuit. If you have been injured after consuming or using any sort of defective product, you may be able to recover compensation for your injuries. If you have a defective product claim in the Phoenix, Arizona area, please contact the Phoenix product liability lawyers at Snyder & Wenner, P.C. today to schedule an initial consultation.

Motorcycle Accidents Often Caused By Other Drivers
Tuesday, July 7th, 2009
Motorcycle accidents can be some of the most serious and fatal accidents on the road, and many people think that inexperienced riders or operator error cause the majority of horrific motorcycle crashes seen on television. In reality, motorcycle accidents are often caused by other drivers. While this may not be shocking to motorcycle riders themselves, the average person may be surprised that other drivers account many of these devastating accidents. One of the biggest causes of motorcycle accidents is another driver failing to look around before making a turn or coming to a stop. Drivers who are unaware of their surroundings will change lanes into the path of a nearby motorcycle, make a left turn in front of a motorcycle, or even fail to stop adequately at a stop sign or red-light and hit the motorcycle from behind. Motorcycle riders need to wear the appropriate clothing and protection when on their motorcycles. New statistics from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety show that motorcycle riders are 35 times more likely to die in an accident than other drivers. If you have been involved in a motorcycle accident that was caused by another driver, you may be entitled to recover compensation to help you pay for medical bills, lost wages, and other damages. It is important to consult an experienced motorcycle accident lawyer to find out how to proceed with your case. If you have been the victim of a motorcycle accident in the Jacksonville, Florida area, please contact the Law Offices of Hardesty, Tyde, Green & Ashton, P.A. today to schedule a consultation.
